Respaldo de Sociedad Civil a Defensora Ambiental en Perú

Perú, 26 de marzo del 2021. Más de 70 instituciones y miembros de la sociedad civil y organizaciones indígenas en Perú emitieron hoy un comunicado respaldando a la Defensora Ambiental Lucila Pautrat ante los ataques que viene recibiendo de parte de una empresa investigada por la instalación no autorizada de monocultivos agroindustriales en Tamshiyacu, en la Amazonía peruana.

“A lo largo de estos años, Pautrat y otros ciudadanos locales y organizaciones han denunciado la serie de abusos producidos en Tamshiyacu, por ello consideramos que esto no es sólo un ataque en contra de Pautrat, sino que se intenta enviar un mensaje nefasto a todos aquellos que desde diferentes instancias de la sociedad civil –en particular desde las poblaciones locales más expuestas y desprotegidas por el Estado— luchan por denunciar a quienes destruyen ilegalmente los bosques de la Amazonía Peruana y violan los Derechos Humanos de sus habitantes”, expresa el comunicado.

Por estos y otros ataques en contra de Pautrat, el Ministerio de Justicia y Derechos Humanos del Perú la ha reconocido explícitamente como Defensora Ambiental y ha solicitado al Ministerio del Interior que implemente acciones urgentes para su protección personal. La Defensoría del Pueblo, por su parte, también ha expresado su respaldo oficial a Pautrat a través de un amicus curiae.
