PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT WITH INTELLIGENCE. The Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) is a 501(c)(3) independent, international, non-profit advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C. with thirty years of triggering and affecting systemic change to protect the Earth’s environment. Over the last three decades, EIA has established a unique paradigm of methods – including pioneering the use of undercover investigations and audio and video recordings – to expose environmental crime and drive change.

EIA is seeking an excited and innovative intern to join one of the most dynamic advocacy teams in Washington DC. As member of the Media Production and Communication Team, the Media Production and Communications Intern will relish the opportunity to use media production to further the organization’s campaign goals. The initial anticipated length of this internship is four (4) months with possibility of extension. This role offers lots of opportunity for personal development within a dynamic team. This is a paid Internship.

This internship will entail a diversity of activities including:

  • Assist in the production of video and photography projects
  • Assist in strategizing and executing various media launches, including reports, videos, new campaign initiatives, and websites
  • Assist in the editing of video and photography projects
  • Create and upload original content to social media channels
  • Catalogue new and old media files
  • Work with each of EIA’s three campaign teams (Forests, Wildlife, and Climate) to production media for specific projects
  • Assist in organizing media assets and contacts
  • Update content on websites
  • Support Comms Team in organizing, updating, and maintain media databases, including media files, reporter lists, and news archives.
  • Organize media and Communications inventory.
  • Assist Media Production and Communication Department with other tasks as needed.

Desired qualifications include:

  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and change focus quickly and easily.
  • Available to work a minimum of 20 hours/week.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as needed
  • Understanding of media production software (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign)
  • Experience with social media and website maintenance
  • Exhibited creativity and passion for learning
  • Interest in environmental issues and/or media relations
  • Passion for environmental issues
  • Some media communications education and/or professional experience
